What is Beauty? According to the Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary, it could be the four meanings I've listed:
(1.) The quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit: loveliness (2.): a beautiful person or thing (3.): a particularly graceful, ornamental, or excellent quality (4.): a brilliant, extreme, or egregious example or instance.
The reason why I want write a note about this is because is because I know there's some girls out there are still struggling with themselves on the inside with their insecurities and such... I will be your voice!!!
The Media... Don't really get me started on them! Magazine covers, Runway Models, T.V. Shows, Etc. Body Image has always been an issue. Especially for women in The United States, clearly it's been estimating their stakes pretty high more than a decade. What do you really see on Cosmo, and Vogue covers? I'll tell you what... Common versions and copies of Olive Oils (Skinny Women That Look Sickly). On February, 2003 there was an article on BBC News showed that more women are buying products in the diet industry then men. The gross rate varies from $40 to $100 billion alone in the United States. This includes Anorexia, Skipping Meals, laxative abuse, etc. The American research group Anorexia Nervosa & Related Eating Disorders, Inc. Did a study of four out of all college girls in their early 20's are using these methods that happens to be unhealthy. Where I am getting at here is... Why do we do this to ourselves!!!! I think it's disgusting!!! And it's very sad that you have young girls from ages 5-12 years old that are pressured and being programmed in that negative influence. The media is so fucking quick to put down women that are a little overweight, or that has curves. Yet being skin and bones beauty? In this new millennium everyone wants to be like the "Barbie" type and don't want to take the time to love themselves for who they are, or even try to make the effort to get to know yourself!!
We Give Our Power, And Respect Away As Women... As most of us females don't believe, or even realize we give that power to men!! Yeah that's right!!! We give it to them, but for the wrong reasons. Back to magazines... On the "Rolling Stone" If you realize when you see male celebs on the cover they are either show their face on the cover, or full body photo shoots their fully clothe. They have that choice to show some skin voluntarily, but for the most part... They own their modesty and still get noticed!!! When you see female celebs on their cover they show more amount of skin or sometimes nude to be noticed and we give men to decide what beauty is to them!!!! Now don't get me started on rap videos... We defiantly gave them that power to objectify us a (hoes, and bitches). To be honest with you ladies... Most of us lost our self-dignity!!! The shit we do to make it to the top of the popularity food chain and to get men to pay attention to us... Tisk Tisk...
The Younger Generation.... When I have a daughter and she asks me about hair, body, etc. I would tell her that she should love herself for who she is! It's a bit cliché', but the truth!!! If you don't love yourself... How the fuck you expect to love someone else, or expect someone to love you? If you have some curves, embrace them! If you’re a little overweight, don't be discouraged! If you want to lose weight that's fine... Don't take the easy way out by taking 1,000's of pills as an aid, purging, etc. Do it the honest way!! Do it for you!! And please... Don't for it for some man!!!! It's bad enough that younger girls, or women in my generation don't really know that difference between love, and just plain casual sex!!
